Sunspots pointing toward earth.

The sun is nearing a solar activity maximum.

There are sunspots visible on the surface, and I was able to get a picture of a large one.

The sunspot is visible as slightly darker area on the lower right of the sun.

It was a beautiful spring day; the sky was clear and the temperature was comfortable. I took a series of photographs as the moon crossed in front of the Sun as seen from Holliston, MA, on April 8, 2024.

The leaves will be on the ground soon, so I got out to Hopkinton State Park to get some seasonal pictures.

Next stop the winter greys, and critters hitting the feeders.

Not quite peak color yet. The colors are only just starting to turn at Hopkinton State Park.

I'll need to try again in a couple of days.


Black and Orange Butterflys

I'm a little uncertain about the orange butterfly, I think it is either a Monarch or a Viceroy. Monarch seems more likely given my location.

I believe the black butterfly is a Black Swallowtail.
